On 6 June 2025: The game was announced at the Summer Game Fest 2025 Showcase. It is a 2D roguelite action-adventure game focused on the mystical world of the East. The game's story in a nutshell: Towa, the priestess of Shinju Village, stands united with eight unique, trustworthy companions to defeat Magatsu and his evil minions. The game is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and is expected to be released on September 19 this year. ^{1 2}

On 7 June 2025: It is particularly interesting that the announcement trailer presented at the Summer Game Fest 2025 Showcase differs between the Japanese version, which the publisher shared on its official YouTube channel.

 

On 12 June 2025: The publisher has posted the latest video of the game on its official YouTube channel, giving us a closer look at the gameplay.

On 13 June 2025: The publisher has made Chinese versions of the Announcement Trailer available on its official YouTube channels, which are also identical to the alternative Japanese version.

On 16 June 2025: Bandai Namco has revealed that Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, Shadow Labyrinth, Digimon Story Time Stranger, and Patapon 1+2 Replay will be available to play in demo form, and in the case of CODE VEIN II, an exclusive photo opportunity will allow us to get closer to the game (a life-size in-game car, the Motorcycle Forma, will be on display). ³

On 17-23 June 2025: The publisher has posted the latest video for the game, the Opening Cinematic, on its official YouTube channels, which, as the name suggests, shows the opening sequence.

At the same time, on June 18, a 15-second commercial video was also uploaded to the Japanese channel.

On 24-25 June 2025: The publisher's official YouTube channels have once again posted a new video from the game, titled Prologue. As the name suggests, it focuses on the game's story.

On 2-3 July 2025: The latest trailer for the game was unveiled at the Bandai Namco Showcase 2025, focusing on the Guardians, specifically the fighting styles of two characters, Rekka and Nishiki.

Official descriptions of the characters:

• Rekka is the founding master of the Eternal Flame Dojo, she’s pledged to be Towa’s personal guard. But despite her mastery of swords, she can be a total klutz. In everyday situations. Her fiery skill with swords makes her well-balanced with strong combos and AOE attacks.
• Nishiki, despite his muscular stature and also the fact that he’s a humanoid koi fish (who, ironically, can’t swim), is a highly pious wanderer. Traveling from place to place, his outlook is that defeating Magatsu is a form of philanthropyand is eager to join the fight with a highly mobile and combo-heavy style.

It was also announced that a Coloring Contest will be launched, limited to the US, with the grand prize being a Towa-themed PC. ^{4 5 6}
