Grand Theft Animals is a virtual reality open world action-adventure game developed by Squido Studio. In the game, you can live your everyday life in a fictional city inhabited by animals, cause chaos, chase money, rob banks, borrow and destroy vehicles, and get away with it under the noses of the vigilant police. Players can experience these adventures from a first-person perspective with all the elements of virtual reality: the physical impact is actually the player, who performs every single baseball bat swing, hit, and every other movement.
Grand Theft Animals is expected to be available on Meta Quest on 12 June 2025, as part of Early Access.
KEY FEATURES:
- Bankroll by Any Means: Beat, rob, and loot your way to financial dominance. Your fists are free. Your bail won't be.
- Buy Questionable Goods: Approach sketchy vendors to buy mystery items with chaotic in-game effects. The results are rarely legal, and never boring.
- Cops Don’t Play: Cause too much trouble and you'll have flashing lights on your tail. Get caught and you’re going down — tased, jailed, and fined.
- Rent and Wreck Vehicles: Pick from a growing fleet of rentable rides — from janky sedans to overpowered sports cars. Use them to explore, escape, or absolutely ruin someone's day.
- Cosmetic Overload: Customize your look in ridiculous ways. From streetwear to surreal costumes, what you wear says nothing about how dangerous you are.
- Pizza Delivery Missions: Accept jobs from restaurants across the city and race against the clock.

On 5 June 2025: Grand Theft Animals has been announced, in which we can live our daily lives in a city without humans, either as law-abiding animal citizens or by siding with crime, causing chaos, rampaging, and engaging in illegal activities, all in full VR. The game will be available in Early Access on Meta Quest on June 12. A roadmap has been promised for the beginning of next week, but in the meantime, here is the trailer for the announcement and the first screenshots. 1
On 12 June 2025: The game was released today on Meta Early Access completely free of charge. The developers also shared the game's roadmap with us. 2
On 14 June 2025: The first update for the game has arrived, bringing the game to version 0.5.0.5. 3
The update includes:
- Joystick Movement is now disabled by default (toggle it in-game via the Left Menu button)
- Jumping bug has been fixed
- Early Access panels added in-game to clarify the game’s current state
- Police Taser mechanics improved for better gameplay feel
- Joystick Movement balance adjustments
On 25 June 2025: The developers announced today on their Discord channel that an update for the game will be released tomorrow. 4
